RealJukebox and iTunes both do it, if you want a slick commercial package, but there are many others on the shareware and freeware sites. If you're trying to rip CDs that are scratched or have skips, I highly recommend Exact Audio Copy. It's slow and only rips to WAV, so you'll need a separate encoder program to get MP3, but it will give you clean rips of CDs that don't even play right. The scratch recovery and jitter correction in that program are amazing. (This is assuming you're using Windows. If you're using Linux to do this, Arson is an excellent package. It's actually a front end to several command-line utilities. I recommend using cdparanoia as the ripper and LAME as the encoder.) ___ For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://striplin.net/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_striplin.net -- Gabriel Soto Southern California 1987 300D 230K=-
Re: [MBZ] OT, converting CD's to mp3
Well some macs didn't have paper-clip holes, mind the manual usually indicated if you could stick a paper-clip in the CD slot edge somewhere instead. People forget Apple hasn't made custom drives for 10's of years now, so they use the off the self millions per order of CD drives everyone else does. Just because you can't mount the CD and see it in the finder doesn't mean you can eject it. Most current mac operating systems would have an eject button on the keyboard or F15 or something to do a keyboard eject, even under os-x there is a cmd line command to force an eject with the last resort of a keyboard command to eject via the firmware at boot time. This can be done with many free programs. There is an itunes for Windows that works just fine but you can also use Windows Media which is likely already installed on your machine. There are another of other free sound programs, for a sound editor check out www.audacity.com. Very useful for splicing sound files or editing sound files, also LP to MP3 conversion.
