Re: [MBZ] OT, what's a Foose?
I always like how the show opened with him doing a sketch of how the featured car was to look when finished. I'm sure he'd do your 230, but it may end up wearing 20" rims. :-) Ed 300E On 14/02/2008, Ed Booher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > On Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 3:58 PM, E M <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > I'm sure you're right, but if the show is an extension of how he works, > > and > > in anyway meant to promote him business, kinda missed the mark with me. > > > > > Ed > > 300E > > > Foose is more than just Chip Foose. Re: [MBZ] OT, what's a Foose?
I saw one up close in a car show in Atlanta, very sharp and very well done. I oftern wondered how good those Overhaulin' cars really look up close, as fast as they're done. The TV camera and studio lighting could hide a lot, and of course you don't see any of the fit and finish on the interior or the undercarriage. His father, Sam Foose owns, or owned, a company that did car design and had most of the contracts for AMT models back in, I think the 80's. At the age of seven Chip was helping his father's company draw up prototypes for models. He worked for Boyd Coddington in the 90's and is responsible for the creation of the Boydster I and the Boydster II and was President of Coddington's Hot Rods by Boyd. However when Hot Rods by Boyd faced bankruptcy he left and founded Foose Designs. He builds one off hot rods, modernized classics and has a line of wheels with his name on them. The show is not necessarily an extension of how he works, rather, it was posed as a challenge. Could you rebuild a classic in a week. Most of his "day job" work takes months, usually. I think I'm going to let him rebuild my `66 230. Wonder if he'll try to put an IH Diesel in there. Re: [MBZ] OT, what's a Foose?
I'm sure you're right, but if the show is an extension of how he works, and in anyway meant to promote him business, kinda missed the mark with me. If there was a show about disgruntled Ferrari employees leaving bottle caps inside the doors of new cars (as they sometimes did in the '60s-'70s hee hee), it would be fun to watch, but wouldn't inspire me to want to buy a Ferrari. :-) Ed 300E On 14/02/2008, R A Bennell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Bear in mind that a lot of this is hype to make the show more interesting. > It is scripted to a great extent and > Boyd is no doubt encouraged to be a tough buy like the father in the show > about the choppers. > > One wonders if reality might be a whole lot different. > > > Randy > > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of E M > Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2008 2:08 PM > To: Mercedes Discussion List > Subject: Re: [MBZ] Here I am in Tornoto > > > You know, it's kind of funny, I'm not really into those kinds of cars at > all, but I have watched both his show, and the other one, Boyd or > whatever. > Foose comes across as a nice, with a real love for what he does.
