[MBZ] OT - Wireless Router

2011-12-17 Thread LWB250
I can't believe the last copy of this was nailed by the spam filters.  Holy,
Kaleb, can you make it any harder to post a message these days?

I am getting ready to purchase a new wireless router for the house, and despite
looking around at what's currently on the market, I'm not terribly impressed.
Here are the features I need:

Gigabit ethernet (two ports)
Dual Band 802.11n
NAT
QoS
DHCP
Client/security management (such as ToD control. MAC address filtering)

I don't care about:
USB ports
NAS capabilities

I'm not a brand snob, so it really doesn't matter whose it is - I just want
something that will do the things listed above, and do them well.  Anything
else is fluff.

TIA,

Dan

You can thank the spammers and their malware for increased spam filters

I got a spam report back from the server because I sent the email (my
first try at 'vw antartica') from the wrong account.

Normally, there has been an email returned when I post from the wrong
account that has a link to cancel the post to the list. Not this time.

Kaleb, please delete that email.

Thanks,

Craig

[MBZ] OT - Wireless Router Recommendations

2015-11-08 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Looking for recommendations on a good wireless router. Current NetGear router
is a POS and I have finally decided to dump it. Only requirement is that it be
configurable, as I do some mac address filtering and QoS things for gaming
purposes.

Thanks,

Dan

The router that comes with my WASP service is airlink. It does not have that
good of range it is on one side of the house and won't reach the other side of
the house. So I have a net gear router in the living room linked to the
airlink. It provides good coverage. I guess I am weird but I prefer routers
that have blinking lights. The net gear does not have blinking lights.

Looking for recommendations on a good wireless router.

We've been using the same Mikrotik for 10+ years. It was surplus
commercial gear.

I’m trying to avoid Netgear and DLink, both of which I’ve had and work, but
their support sucks to say the least. I had a DLink router that did a great
job, but DLink decided they wanted to move on product-wise after having it on
the market for six months, and as a result stopped updating firmware. As issue
were discovered they just blew it off as an end-of-life product.

The Asus 66U looks nice.

Thanks!
