Police pull over self-driving car in Calif.Published: Friday, November 13,
2015

Police in Mountain View, Calif. -- where Internet giant Google Inc. is
based -- pulled over a slow-moving vehicle yesterday and were surprised to
find it was one of the company's self-driving cars.

In a Facebook post, the Mountain View Police Department said an officer
began a routine traffic stop on the vehicle, which was delaying eastbound
traffic on busy El Camino Real.

The vehicle was traveling 24 mph in a 35 mph zone. After the car was pulled
over, an officer realized it was a self-driving car and contacted its
operators, the department said.

The department said the officer asked Google why the car was going so slow
and let them know it was impeding traffic.

Under California law, though, the self-driving vehicle was allowed to
operate on the road because it did not have a speed limit above 35 mph
