Speaking of not perfect, the 1985 300CD trunk lid won't close 
properly.  I
have to set the lid down and then press HARD to get it to close.  
Otherwise,

it just bounces back up when I slam it down the usual way.  Is there
anything to lube to get it to be more obedient?


You could try squirting the latch with a little oil, but it could well
be that the latch is just misadjusted.

Wal-Mart sells a Lubricating Gel which is like -15F 15w40 motoroil. I sprayed 
some of that on the hood latch when it was sticky and it free'd it right up. I 
also put some in Hammie's balky door lock which became smooth as silk.
I was nervous that the stuff would get impossible to turn in cold weather but 
at 1F it was only a little stiff and definately not any worse than than other 
vehicles I've had.

Oh, you dreamer you.  No matter how she screws up, it will somehow be
ALL YOUR FAULT.

My wife refuses to consider driving the Frankenheap.  Partly because
it's a new kind of stick to drive (she's only driven the Dodge and
Chevy trucks [stick] prior to this), and partly because it's not
key-start.
