Bob,

Sorry Dan, it's just to friggin' cold and I'm going blind looking at cars
from $4000 and under 50 miles from 74063 to see/read/type straight any more.

Thanks Rusty,
I found out that here in Oklahoma, you can have a salvage car
repaired, take the receipts and the car to a tag agency, and they can issue
a "rebuild" (or maybe it was "rebuilt" and I just wasn't hearing too well
that day) title. And, yeah, I know that it can be for an "economic" total
or a "structural" total, could be something minor, I'm hoping that, if
things get that far, to have a good PPI done. Just want to get some ideas
on how much it might cost to fix an inoperative cruise control and a
fluctuating heater fan (doesn't seem to shut off completely) and (not too
important right now) inoperative aircon for a 1987 300E.
Best regards,

In some states, a salvage title is attached after a vehicle is the
subject of a mechanic's lien.

[MBZ] Recommended Tulsa area independents?

2005-12-07 Thread Tom Reynolds
Hi gang,
Found a 300E that might not be a total POS and reasonably priced.
But, said car has a few problems. And, it has a salvage title. Known
problems (so far) are that the cruise control, while for a time
intermittant, now seems to finally bit the bullet and died. Also, the
aircon doesn't work. The heater, on the other hand, does work, but current
owner says the fan never seems to go completely off. Are the problems with
the cc and the a/c-fan issue something that can be pretty easily (read
cheaply) fixed? And, if it passes a PPI (am thinking about Benzin, but
will consider other recommendations) should a salvage title concern me if I
plan to keep the car? (Current owner has no idea why it has a salvage
title, he bought it from his brother.) I should get the VIN and run a
Carfax, maybe?

Thanks very much,
Tom Reynolds
