[MBZ] Removing snapped manifold bolts from 603.
I got my exhaust manifold off last night in preparation for replacement with a euro manifold and new turbo (so I have some bragging rights at rustyQ of course). The last back stud was snapped off and missing, an issue I was already aware of. I found another one around #3 as well. Anyone had tips on the best way to get them out? #3 seems easy enough I was just going to get a left hand extractor. #6 seems more difficult due to space. Can I use a wobbly socket driver and extractor and take it out by hand? -Rolf ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Drill and use an extractor, the broken ones on our two 603's have come out easily once the head is off. Quite an exercise to attempt with the head on the engine with the engine in the car -- didn't work! I was more successful! I used the Irwin extractor and a right angle chuck adapter from harbor freight. The back one I had to do blind but managed to get it right on in the middle. -Rolf On 8/12/2011 5:34 PM, Peter Frederick wrote: Drill and use an extractor, the broken ones on our two 603's have come out easily once the head is off. Rolf, you asked about oil jets for piston cooling in the NA Om606. The "Introduction to service" book says it does. I finally had time to look at the book today.
