I don't have a problem with this unless you are poking along a freeway onramp. The onramp near me feeds into an interstate with a 75mph speed limit. If you're saving fuel with a light foot, and are only up to 45mph by the time you reach the freeway, and I'm stuck behind you forced to merge into 80mph traffic with a 35mph differential... yeah I'll be a little peeved. That's not just stupid it's dangerous. I've even seen people come to a STOP at the end of the onramp with the blinker on!!! (Seriously!) Once you're safely on the freeway I don't care how fast or slow you're going as long as you're not blocking the flow of traffic. That includes not taking 5 minutes to pass someone who's going 64mph while you're going 65mph. You'd think this would be common sense, but as the saying goes, it's quite uncommon... Re: [MBZ] Road manners (was: Auto tranny 240Ds are slow!)
Who's rules? #2. Is pretty much impossible... How can I get to 75mph in 200 yards? Even in my Dodge Dakota 250hp 318ci thats not gonna happen. Besides which it'd kill mileage. #3. Another stupid rule, why not? I've driven plenty of SUVs and driven plenty of miles in the passing lane. #4. Might as well add to this one the police, victims, and rescue workers will appreciate being buffeted by the extra wind of you flying past and will of course feel safer because of your added speed. #5. Whoa, one I actually agree with. #6. Yeah, pull across 2 lanes of traffic without powersteering or the power to accelerate, feel safe, nobody will hit you. #7. If somebody hits me I get charged until the tow truck gets there? #8. Why three? If we're going to charge $1,000 for somebody who doesn't cause an accident why not just randomly suspend people license because they might have an accident someday? #9. Sure, because at 10mph theres obviously not gonna be anybody needing the breakdown lane to be broken down in. #10. Whatever Gabriel, I have to hand it to you, you know how to write an irritating post, and with such regularity. I haven't decided yet if you're doing it on purpose and just don't put in emoticons to let us know you're making a joke or if you're not aware. -Curt Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2005 10:51:07 -0700 From: Gabriel S.
