Yup, my welding improved substantially the year I kept piecing the '84 190D exhaust back together. I kept fixing it and it kept breaking. Eventually it was more repair than original pipe... -Curt On Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 05:34:38 PM EDT, Jim Cathey via Mercedes wrote: This kind of repair is one of the very easiest to do when welding, assuming the metal is not all rusted away. Re: [MBZ] W116 diesel exhaust bracket
Yeah that's probably the easiest thing. It does look rusted where it broke, but overall it's solid. I can weld a bit of replacement from some scrap I have around if necessary. [MBZ] W116 diesel exhaust bracket
Tracked down my rattling exhaust issue on the 300SD today. The bracket that holds the front of the exhaust is broken. I see this kit is available, which includes some of the bits but does not show the bracket itself (the bracket bolts to the transmission housing). https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mercedes-front-exhaust-mounting-kit-genuine-mercedes-2014900237 Doesn't look like it would be terribly difficult to fabricate something out of some steel stock, or possibly do a weld repair on the existing bracket, but anyone know if the bracket is availalble as a replacement part? ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
