So, I am assuming that this is something to do with the change back to standard time from daylight saving time, as I note a response at 9:50 to a message I sent at 10:37. Anyone else experiencing this sort of thing today? These days, if you send your kids to school, you have to "unlearn" them at home and teach them properly anyway. So, you may as well homeschool in the first place. You know, it was close enough that we all knew what he meant. My children, now in their 20's were taught in our schools, that it was more important to get one's ideas on the page than it was to do it correctly. I guess, on the assumption that it could be later edited and perhaps that they would learn to spell etc., by osmosis and the teachers would not have to put any real effort into such boring sujects as spelling and grammar. The result is that one of my son's has managed to learn by himself - he has a Master's Degree now - and the other is never going to win any spelling bees etc. The younger one was quite happy not to have to worry about things like spelling and at the age of 22, still does not do well in that regard. I love waking up to daylight but also coming home in the daylight. In a best of all possible worlds, we would set the clocks back AND end work an hour earlier so as not to suffer from the darker afternoons.. Or just forget the clock - go to work after the sun rises, and get home before it sets -- seems that how life used to be? During 24-hour daylight in Greenland, I had to blackout my bedroom windows with draperies and a blanket to make myself think it was dark outside. 'Went out alone many times at 1, 2, etc., AM to "scout" around, photograph, etc., base and surrounding area.
