That is reasonably consistent with what I am getting. I am doing about 24
around town and 28 on the highway. I thought it might do better than that
but even that is not too shabby for a 30 year old car.

When everything is working perfectly - mid 20s in mixed driving, high 
20s on the highway with a tailwind and a little luck.

If you are talking US gallons, then I am a bit on the low side. I am
managing 21 around town and only about 23 on the highway in US gallons. In
Imperial gallons, it is about 24 around town and 28 on the highway.

Tire pressure at the low end of or below acceptable (below about 30 psi) 
will drop economy 10-20%

Our 1983 300TD with 276 K miles is down to about 20 mpg in mixed driving. No
serious fuel leaks so I guess it's the aging process...
