Re: [MBZ] crookedest street WUZ Good spots for lunch and dinner in SF

I could see spending a few days in SF doing tourist crap. I would have done
more but it’s somewhat boring when you are alone.

Robert Ripley had it in his Believe it or Not books as the crookedest
street, and he did consider SF.  I don't know what his criteria were.

As for driving, until the late 70s you could go up or down, but
somewhere in the late 70s or early 80s they made it one way down.   FOr
a while it was closed off, but then it was opend for one way down.   I
am not sure what the current status is, but i think it is still one way
down.

SF is hardly the vacation capital of the USA either.  That probably goes
to whorlando, with lost wages as second.

Yeah, Burlington, IA isn’t exactly the vacation capital of the US…I
can see why this has been largely ignored.

Cool, though. Do they still let people drive on it?

I noticed the granite or marble curbs. Tampa used to have polished
granite curbs downtown to keep the gators form being able to climb
onto the sidewalks, or so I’ve been told. Many of the curbstones are
still in place.

I noticed the granite or marble curbs. Tampa used to have polished granite
curbs downtown to keep the gators form being able to climb onto the sidewalks,
or so I’ve been told. Many of the curbstones are still in place.
