a kit but I doubt there is any point in looking for something at an
audio store to fit this old car. Don't want to alter the car to attach
the radio if I can help it.

Can you fit a DIN sleeve to the car somehow? Then the new unit just
slides into and out of it.

First take a microwave oven and some tin snips...

Subject: [MBZ] installing new radiio in old car??

I pulled the non-functional radio / tapedeck out of my 76 115 300D last evening
in preparation for installation of
a new Pioneer CD player given to me by my sons for my birthday, back in
February. The mounting setups for the old
and the new are quite different. Anyone out there with good ideas on how to
mount the new unit in the hole? The old
one has the spring tabs on the front edge of the radio that just snap into the
cutout in the housing. They can't be
put onto the new unit as there will not be a cutout spot for them to spring
into on the new unit. I am going to
have to come up with something else to attach the new unit to the housing. With
late model stuff you CAN just buy
a kit but I doubt there is any point in looking for something at an audio store
to fit this old car. Don't want to
alter the car to attach the radio if I can help it.
