What I discovered at least here, and I am sure at other places as well is they are going to the auctions and buying cars there that were traded in. I see lots of cars there that are not wrecked at all and look pretty good and have dealer stock tags in them. A year or so ago I ran across a 96 e300 that I used to own in the pnp. I sold it to a buddy of mine who did a bunch of work to it then sold it to a coworker of his. A little while later he said she had to have a new radiator put in it and a bunch of other work. She then wanted to get rid of it and asked if I wanted it back. Price was more than I wanted to spend so I passed. I then saw it at pnp with a dealer stock tag in it. This was actually a customer of mine. She must have traded it in there. I knew the car well and knew it was in good shape mechanically. Had I known it was at my customer I could have bought it from them before it went to auction.
