Re: [MBZ] runaway 300SDL, diesels CAN smoke the tires
Hate it when that happens. bill s So Regina calls and says that the SDL all the sudden started accelerating out of control. So I head back to check out the situation. Apparantly the linkage to the IP broke(looks like plastic) and stuck the IP to full open throttle. I mean FULL open. So I start it up, slam it into reverse as quick as I can before it revs up too high, BAMM, smoking tires, then to drive, smokes the tires for a block or 2 it seems. Anyways, got it home, shut off engine as I was turning into driveway. By the time I got back home(only a couple of miles) brakes sure were smoking from trying to bring the speed down. Next I will try some JB weld or something to fix that linkage. Hope I dont have to pull the manifold. -- Kaleb C. You CAN access every bit of the linkage with the manifold in situ, but patience is required. I've fiddled with these items far more times than I care to recall. I used epoxy to fix the plastic ball joints on the sliding linkage between the IP and CC servo bracket. On 9/27/05, Kaleb C.
