Re: [MBZ] runaway 300SDL, diesels CAN smoke the tires

Hate it when that happens.

So Regina calls and says that the SDL all the sudden started
accelerating out of control. So I head back to check out the situation.
Apparantly the linkage to the IP broke(looks like plastic) and stuck
the IP to full open throttle. I mean FULL open. So I start it up, slam
it into reverse as quick as I can before it revs up too high, BAMM,
smoking tires, then to drive, smokes the tires for a block or 2 it
seems. Anyways, got it home, shut off engine as I was turning into
driveway. By the time I got back home(only a couple of miles) brakes
sure were smoking from trying to bring the speed down. Next I will try
some JB weld or something to fix that linkage. Hope I dont have to pull
the manifold.

You CAN access every bit of the linkage with the manifold in situ, but
patience is required. I've fiddled with these items far more times
than I care to recall. I used epoxy to fix the plastic ball joints on
the sliding linkage between the IP and CC servo bracket.
