Re: [MBZ] someone must want this

2010-11-15 Thread Curt Raymond
I know I'm late (was a deer camp last week) but my '85 190D (2.2l 5spd stick)
averaged right around 38mpg in mostly highway driving. Highest tank ever was
43mpg. To get that I had to keep the speed to 65mph or less. Mileage on these
diesels is VERY speed dependent.

My son's '84 190D 2.2 5-speed gets 42 on the highway - but he drives it
like he stole it ALL the time. He loves driving it, and that one looks alot
better than my son's does.
My technical data manual lists only the 2.5 Diesel in '86.

A 190D 2.5 that gets 44mpg with a dead odometer?
Not only is the claimed mileage at least 20% high, how would they know if the
ODO reads 0mpg?

Wasn't there a 2.2 diesel?
What makes you think this is a 2.5?

It's a 1986, not a '83 or '84, and I assume it's a US model.

190E gave you a choice of 2.3 or 2.6, 190D were 2.2 for two years, then 2.5
through 1989.

I've got a coolant flush/recovery machine that I don't think has ever been
used. It's in the back of our white room at the shop.

I've been tempted to put it on CL to see if there are any takers, but I have no
idea what it's worth.
