Donald, that comment makes me definately want to manage your campaign to become a judge! ;-) Those choices are the only ones a conservative really has. We all would like Thompson or Romney but we don't have that choice - unless we start a write-in campaign? Anyway, as poor a choice that McCain is, the thought of seeing obama in the white house is not what this country needs and I hope we don't get that.. I wanted Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney. I just watched Fred Thompson in the movie In The Line Of Fire recently. I thought he was a good enough actor to win the presidency. I guess telling it like it is didn't win him enough votes... Re: [MBZ] that'll give him the mandate he deserves = now list content and a soapbox speech
One of the benefits of this list is that it give me a glimpse of ways of thinking that I don't much get to hear around here. Not just right wingers from the heartland, but Canadian, NE and NW types with liberal perspectives. Even if I disagree with the dominant ideology expressed here, I always respect someone who writes clearly (if not persuasively). Believe it or not, I think Hursty has the most vivid prose style. I especially enjoy his nonpolitical canine related stories. OTOH, his political diatribes could use some work, as they tend to suffer from a lack of subtlety. ;) On Wed, Jun 4, 2008 at 9:16 PM, Bill R [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Another way to see it is that we bring up MB stuff when it is 'live' for us, and the rest of the time whatever is on the brain burner: cooking, airplanes, politics, world events. I think it is a pretty interesting spread of ideas and perspectives, even though I disagree and agree about equally with the politics I see on the list. I get MB content and answers I couldn't get elsewhere. While I am on my soapbox, one of the problems I see in our society is that too often people only talk to those who think like they do. A conservative list would make statements that seem reasonable to them and so would a moderate or liberal list - but the other two groups would not agree about what was reasonable. We shall do our best to accommodate you. However, I can't claim to be a liberal. I am an Obama delegate who is a blending of Democrat and Libertarian. Sounds like an oxymoron but it works for me.
