The trick, or at least the way I handled the same situation, is to crank
the resolution way up on the camera, so you can take the shot without
looking through the viewfinder and then crop it down to what you want,
later. That's how I took this one:

http://www.gull.us/misc/mercedes/20.jpg

Hmm...looking at the two pictures, I notice the maximum speed tick marks
are in different places. On my 300D Turbo, they're at roughly these speeds:

I - 27 mph
II - 47 mph
III - 76 mph

On his car, they're at roughly:
I - 24 mph
II - 39 mph
III - 64 mph

I assume our cars must have different rear end ratios or something.

When you attach a picture on this list, it isn't sent to everyone on the
list, but there is a link added that allows others to download it if they
want.

So, go ahead and attach the picture.

Allright, LT Don, I've been out driving around for over a month since you
posted your odometer picture, just so I could match ya. And my picture
quality is better. And I live in MN, not IA. So there.

I remember when my Sportie turned 40k, I pulled over, let my dog (90 lbs

I like that !

123456 + 88K is still just a pup at just over 200K

Hey Tom, you put a lot of miles on. WHat is the highest mileage MB (or
other car) you have had?

At 08:32 PM 1/20/2006, you wrote:

My odometer "turned" this today while I was driving west to a meeting.
Having taken the digital camera with me in anticipation of this
turn-of-events, just had to pull onto the shoulder of the highway and snap a
photo.

But ... the odometer reading is not really true, since a new one was put in
by 240D's previous owner at ~88,000 miles.

Nevertheless, it's very interesting.

I guess my recent 224466 comes in a distant second. (I took a picture, but

[MBZ] unique odometer reading

2006-01-21 Thread LT Don
My odometer "turned" this today while I was driving west to a meeting.
Having taken the digital camera with me in anticipation of this
turn-of-events, just had to pull onto the shoulder of the highway and snap a
photo.

But ... the odometer reading is not really true, since a new one was put in
by 240D's previous owner at ~88,000 miles.
