My theory is that the 124 wagons are more complex / more expensive to maintain
and repair, but the owners for the most part are frugal (compared to average MB
owner) and don't keep them up well so the end result is a car that will need a
lot of $$ and time invested to bring back to a reasonable driving condition,
where as a 123 wagon is much less costly to make the same repairs (one can
easily spend $1000 on rear suspension parts for a 124, as I've recently
discovered, twice...).

Re: [MBZ] who wanted a 300D?

2010-12-13 Thread andrew strasfogel
I can't figure out why the W1241987 300TD wagons are going so cheap
compared to the W123 300TDs. Marshall Booth always insisted the 124s
were way superior in many ways to the 123 technology. I hate their
looks, which is why I am a W123 300TD collector instead of seeking
that perfect W124 300TD...

I am sorta in the neighborhood, this CL car is probably 45 min away (but
just about everything is 45 min away from where I live, except for the
white car is maybe 20min away)
