TOL is traderonline. Its the same price regardless of year if you are
doing a magazine/internet combo ad.

Kaleb- Good point; I'd forgotten the 20 year thing. Got hit w/that
when selling my 85 300sd. Funny thing was that to sell it through the
"20 year" service it was much more $$$, but as an "1986 300sd" (but
1985 clearly in the body) it was fine for autotrader!

Sold through craigslist in the end...

What's a TOL???

I am Dania's friend and she had called me and mentioned your love for the
Mercedes Benz Diesel. Dania will send picture of my wrecked car shortly.

I was offered $2,168.00 from the insurance company. They first offered me
$2042.70 and then my attorney faxed all of the maintenance receipts to them
and they came back with the second price.

Go look on AutoTrader, Ebay and the like to get similar cars. You
might ask that they find you a car in like condition that would sell
for the amount they are offering.

Ebay will allow you to see completed sales; get some color images from
those cars and compare them objectively with yours. Its best if the
average price is say $3k but based on images of these cars x, y, and z
compared to pics of your car yours is nicer you've got more ammo.
Factual data is your friend and if you have time to wait them out,
better still.

If it works, it takes the numbers almost completely out of the
equation. To write you a check is the easiest path, to lowball makes
it better for them.

Try NADA values. You'll have to go with the collector
book. My daughter got t-boned a couple yrs back in an
85 SD with about 240K well maintained but still
showing the miles a bit. She got $4500 and we still
kept the car.

Their offer might be a bit low for a nice one, but certainly in the
ballpark of what they sell for.

Might try to find some comparable eBay sales history, those always
seem to go for astronomical prices.

My parents bought the car used from the German mechanic that they continued
to use used for repairs. They had maintained it extremely well (they had
intended to keep this as their last car that they would ever need) and when
I got the car they still took it for me to the same mechanic to keep it
maintained.

I appreciate your time and any thoughts that you might have on the value of
the car.
