Alcoa shut down their big Aircraft Alum plant.

Chinee demand has tanked due to their artificial low prices and
curtailed gummint-subsidized construction, there is a flood of steel
on the market that is not moving. A local aluminum smelter is
shutting down at EOY, 600 jobs evaporate, they say because they
can't get a good price from the electric utility (state-owned) but
also because subsidized chinee metal is killing them, which means
they need subsidized electrons...

the midwest it was about 18.5 cents a lb (about
$1.41/gallon)

a year ago it was about 27 cents a lb

I was talking to someone about buying 1100

This is the sheet I have followed for 8 yrs. It
used to quote MO valley separate from the
MIssissippi river Valley (IL) but no longer does.
MO valley was always under the IL price.

YG has historically been several cents below CWG.
It appears that perhaps the market is inverted
between CWG and YG. Based on this:

http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/lswagenergy.pdf

What I do know is that raw material sold for
rendering that used to bring 6-7¢ is now down to
a penny. The cost of rendering has gone down a
little, but nothing near the % drop in the raw
materials.

[MBZ] yellow grease price

2011-07-25 Thread Rick Hawkins Java

Folks

the current yellow grease price can be seen here

if you just google yellow grease price

http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/sj_gr210.txt

at .465 per lb, i figure 7.62 lbs per gallon which makes it $3.54 per
gallon

this is in lots of 6000 gals (a tanker truck)

it has been a little higher than current price, but not much higher

often it can be bought from individuals for 1.50 to $2 per gallon

we've sold 6000 gals at a time to biodiesel producers, etc at maybe 75
or 80% of the market price

i don't know how you'd sell it at the full market price
thanks,

xx rick
