What model car / engine? If an OM60X, I sure hope this doesn't mean the front
timing case is damaged. That's a pretzel involved repair if it needs to be

Helicoils have been an accepted fix for stripped spark plug threads for
decades. Tried and true, they do the job well and are quite robust.

I'm not sure they are better - depends on your requirements I guess. I
doubt that the solid barrel that screws into the aluminum case is better
than the wire threads of a heliciol. I read on a motorcycle forum that they
both use the same size tap for a given bolt, so the time-sert has to have
thinner threads?

prob'ly, but its a relatively shallow blind hole  About Dx1.   Helicoul
needs at least Dx2 but Dx3+ is better.   Or you could bore through, then
try to make an oil proof seal with the bolt.  THat is do-able, but I'd
want the timing cover off to do that.

Vista Dome!    Riding through colorado and the calif mountains in the
Vista Dome of the California Zephyr was a great experience.   Repeated
it in 1988 when we moved to Hawaii, but that was not along the Feather
River Valley, but on the modern Amtrack route.   Not as spectacular, no
vista dome, but still memorable.

I really despise facebook marketplace.. People post things for sale and
there is no way to contact them directly to set up a buy of their item. The
post and forget, never respond to your "facebook reply that you want to
inspect and buy".. then if they do make contact with you it is obliquely to
post the item is sold and the sale is taken down.. if you can find that in
the facebook mess. Nothing is intuitive or direct.
I hear facebook is going broke... couldn't be soon enough. Can I sue for
reparations for money and time lost because of their gross mismanagement?
Ohh... almost forgot... if I look at something, suddenly, I get 100 +
emails trying to sell me like products.. or not so like.. unsolicited, so
facebook is mining my personal information for sale..

Of course. That's what Facebook _is_!

It's like modern cars: A modern car is a video game that, if you win,
rewards you with transportation to your intended destination.

Facebook (et al.) is a marketing platform that rewards you with the
contact you desire, if you win. But never forget its primary purpose:
selling _you_ to the highest bidder.
