Tin the connectors that plug into it? If you can't make the hole smaller, make the peg larger. I will try, but feel that it will be a short term fix like everything else I've tried. Is there any kind of long-lasting "contact enhancer" that could be used? I was thinking about anti-sieze paste. Yep I've cleaned the socket and pins, used DeOxIt spray, tried the foam peanut/cigarette butt trick, and tach is still *very* intermittent. I pour it on the back and push it around with a stick. Don't let any drip through holes in the board, or drip around the outside. You don't want ANY of it on the components themselves. It could ruin them, and will certainly deface them so you can't tell what they are supposed to be. Once it's had time to work, crinkling up the varnish, you > rinse with water and a bit of dish soap and then with just water? wash it off, scrub with a brush and rinse thoroughly, then blow-dry with compressed air. Yep, if something's not working on my W123 or W116 it's either FUSES, vacuum, or mechanical. No computers. Closest thing would be the ACC, cruise control, and tachometer. None of which work on either of my cars.
