Quesion is: was there ever "California Emissions" on these diesels?


The only thing I know of is the EGR valve, of which there wasn't one
on the 79 I sold.

Factory top speed for old Gump was a healthy 87 mph.  When I got her 
top speed was a pokey 51  mph.  Mucho Italiano and we are able to 
get within a breath of factory speed.  Automatic versions of the om615 
were limited to 82 mph IIRC unless you drove off a really tall cliff.  
Terminal velocity depended upon altitude.


I would assume that CA began interfering with emissions in the 80's but 
not before.  Gump has no restrictions, but is drop dead simple and were 
there no floor boards, Fred Flintstone would feel right at home.

I'm assuming you're not describing the top speed there. On a flat, the
powerplant we put in the 240 easily hits 90 and wants to do more.

I know I'm inviting a brisk heckling, but I find the engine we have now to
be pretty darn peppy. Granted, the ill-fated engine we pulled out had some
problems, so I assume it wasn't making the power it should, but the current
engine is a little firecracker in comparison.
