My 2014 E250 ( former PA car) had the subframe rust out but replacement was
covered under an extended warranty.

If you drive in the winter on salted roads, in my experience rust is 
inevitable. Some cars hold out longer than others before it becomes a visible 
problem.

I have never seen any rust on a X/W164, but I am sure there are rusty 
cars out there.  These do not seem prone to rust.

It is not rust, just a dirty water stain probably from a slight leak 
around the door handle.
