Late report I heard is that there are some lubrication problems with the Trent 900 used on the A380, and flights are delayed again. Don't know details, but this is what I expected to hear (not that I'm a mind reader or anything, but these are new engines and the triple spool counter-rotating design is prone to lubrication trouble). On the topic of outsourcing service, does anyone know what engines Emirates are using on their A380s, and also, if the do the servicing in house? I seem to recall that Lufthansa does so of the servicing for them? I have a friend who is a bit nervous of climbing aboard a RR equipped 380 who has some trips booked.
