Re: [MBZ] OT - Voice recognition software
I got my iphone at the beginning of December and it and I just don't get along on voice recognition. The other day I was trying Homewood Suites, Malvern, PA and it kept wanting to use Holiday Inn, Malvern, PA or Home Ice Slates or Hot Inns sleets but it always got Malvern, PA. I was flabbergasted that it couldn't get Homewood suites but could get Malvern, PA. I finally typed it in and the GPS worked fine... Having come from Android there are a few things that drive me crazy about the iphone. I think its worse because the overall experience is very good so the things I find annoying stand out that much more dramatically. -Curt Date: Sun, 06 Jan 2013 23:03:54 -0500 From: Rich Thomas richthomas79td...@constructivity.net To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] OT - Voice recognition software Message-ID: 50ea492a.7020...@constructivity.net Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed I got an ipad for Christmas, and that Siri thing is downright amazing. Not sure how iphone's versions works but Siri isn't really a voice-to-text system like Android uses. That said I was going to recommend your niece/nephew-in-law consider some of the iphone/android software for this. Google's default keyboard has a voice module so it is relatively simple to switch to and from voice typing, and the latest versions (4.0+) are very good. Swype keyboard (also free) uses Dragon technology and is frequently updated. The phone/tablet would also have an integrated camera so they can isolate records, maybe using something like EverNote that can keep information together easily. It is only gathering dust on the shelf. Fred Moir Lynn MA Diesel preferred.
