Wilton.
You got it about right. I get blamed for things that I didn't do and (very
rarely) thanked for them as well.
I have a new unopened Dragon NS v.10 with headset, if you can use it,
gratis. It is only gathering dust on the shelf.

A niece just called with a question re. the program. She and her husband
operate a thriving, but small, auction business. During last several
months their internet sales have grown fast. Preparation for these
sales, though, are a bit time consuming and tedious, taking two people.
He has to take photo of the item and tell a helper what to type, etc.,

computer what to type in the appropriate blank of an Excel program.
Anybody know? TIA

I got my iphone at the beginning of December and it and I just don't get along
on voice recognition.
The other day I was trying Homewood Suites, Malvern, PA and it kept wanting
to use Holiday Inn, Malvern, PA or Home Ice Slates or Hot Inns sleets but
it always got Malvern, PA. I was flabbergasted that it couldn't get Homewood
suites but could get Malvern, PA. I finally typed it in and the GPS worked
fine...

Having come from Android there are a few things that drive me crazy about the
iphone. I think its worse because the overall experience is very good so the
things I find annoying stand out that much more dramatically.

You can voice-train Android (Google) voice recognition, so it gets better
over time as you suffer through this sort of thing. Not sure how iphone's
versions works but Siri isn't really a voice-to-text system like Android
uses.

That said I was going to recommend your niece/nephew-in-law consider some
of the iphone/android software for this. Google's default keyboard has a
voice module so it is relatively simple to switch to and from voice typing,
and the latest versions (4.0+) are very good. Swype keyboard (also free)
uses Dragon technology and is frequently updated. The phone/tablet would
also have an integrated camera so they can isolate records, maybe using
something like EverNote that can keep information together easily.

Best,
Tim

There is still a learning curve on Siri. They tried to make it as forgiving as
possible, but we are non standard, so some diction gets screwed up. Given my
level of hearing loss, I am very lenient in my dealing with Siri. She must be
as impaired as I am, since I have to keep asking for a repeat.

are a bit time consuming and tedious, taking two people.  He has to take photo
of the item and tell a helper what to type, etc., about the item in the
appropriate blank.  Niece is wondering it Dragon will allow one person to
photo the item and then, using Dragon, tell the computer what to type in the
appropriate blank of an Excel program.  Anybody know?  TIA

Dragon works with all Windoze programs, plus many others.
The newest version is very good.

Several years ago, one of you fine gentlemen sent me a voice rec. software
program, Dragon, that I used for coupla years until my tremor went away,
and I haven't used/needed it for about 6 years, now. 'Think it was Fred
Mior who sent the program. Thanks, again, Fred.

A niece just called with a question re. the program. She and her husband
operate a thriving, but small, auction business. During last several months
their internet sales have grown fast. Preparation for these sales, though,
are a bit time consuming and tedious, taking two people. He has to take
photo of the item and tell a helper what to type, etc., about the item in
the appropriate blank. Niece is wondering it Dragon will allow one person

the appropriate blank of an Excel program. Anybody know? TIA

Wilton.
You got it about right. I get blamed for things that I didn't do and (very
rarely) thanked for them as well.
I have a new unopened Dragon NS v.10 with headset, if you can use it, gratis.
It is only gathering dust on the shelf.

I got an ipad for Christmas, and that Siri thing is downright amazing.
It does not seem to require learning my voice, and got it right from the
