Yes my bee guy told me about that. He’s hoping these bees do something similar.

Re: [MBZ] OT Plan Bee

2019-06-15 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
In the last few years (since the drought ended) the bees swarmed at least a
half dozen times. As I understand it, the old queen leads the swarm as a new
queen is "born" to lead the old hive. Local beekeepers came and got a couple
of the swarms before they "got away" but most of the swarms apparently have new
homes somewhere in the wild. I have about 45 forested acres and there are
several other large "tree farms" nearby.

Re: [MBZ] OT Plan Bee

2019-06-15 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
I tried to get rid of my bees at first. Gad several bee-keepers come to get
them. They removed a bunch each time but never got them all. I decided to try
to kill the ones remaining. I killed a bunch but many still remained. Finally
I decided to co-exist. They are right over our bedroom (I can hear them buzz)
but I sealed that room pretty well when I painted it and they don't seem to get
in. A few do get into the upstairs storeroom through cracks between the 1854
floorboards but that's manageable. Given the problems bees have had lately I'm
glad some have a safe place.
