Hi Marcus, You might want to consider the following when changing the oil in your Porsche. Love, Pop > > Hey Don, > > You also have to consider the design of the engines. Re: [MBZ] Off topic oil question
I know one of the owners of Lyden Oil. Maybe I should ask him if he can ship 5 gallon pails of M1 V-twin (1800ish ppm)? He quoted me sub-$400 for a 55 gal drum of M1 car oil. (not a factory drum, they buy the stuff by the tanker truck and repackage it) > On October 18, 2019 at 8:03 AM Larry Turner via Mercedes > wrote: > > > Hey Don, > You also have to consider the design of the engines. Re: [MBZ] Off topic oil question
Hey Don, You also have to consider the design of the engines. Low ZDDP mostly affects "Flat-Tappet" designs (think Harley Davidson or flat 4 & 6 Porsche). (FYI -- ZDDP=Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate) Here are some examples: Valvoline (VV150-6PK) MaxLife 10W-40 Higher Mileage Motor Oil. ... Pennzoil High Mileage Vehicle Oil. ... Mobil 1 45000 5W-30 High Mileage Motor Oil. ... Castrol 06470 GTX 20W-50 High Mileage Motor Oil. Also, try Allen's suggestions or google high ZDDP oils. Good luck! Re: [MBZ] Off topic oil question
I don't think Rotella or any mainstream oil has high enough zinc any more for old engines. They have all been reformulated for modern engines. Maybe look Penn or racing oils. https://penngrade1.com/products/high-performance-oils/ Or a ZDDP additive.
