Roger wrote: My absence since 2/22/13 has not been due to any actions, disputes or anything else here so credit can be taken The fact is that I have been among the missing because of a colossal health crisis that very nearly resulted in my death. After 12 years my cancer has returned for which I am now under re-treatment. I've had two surgeries, the second of which ended up causing a huge problem and the first of two two week hospital stays (at Swedish First Hill/Seattle) and both of which started as UTIs and progressed to near septicemia. After the first one where I was declared cured and discharged to a two week rehab center stay, one week later it all came back and I was admitted to the ER with a 103.3 temp for which someone my age is a very big deal. I was headed down the plughole but after being connected to everyline in the building and being seen by a parade of specialists, after two more weeks I was once again sent to the same rehab center for another two week stay. The most awful thing about this adventure is that since 2/23 I have been cursed with an indwelling catheter which has effectively ended my former life for the time being. So, I've missed all the MBCA and PCA events which I always attend. But, there is a fix for this which is called a Suprapubic catheter (google it) which will eliminate the urinary catheter and end the infections that have made life hell for the last three months. But since I had some heart damage during the last infection I am required to get a surgical clearance from my Cardiologist first. So. I overnighted last night in the hospital after the installallation of the first of two stents to open up some blockages I didn't know I had. No after effects at all except from lying on the table in a cold room for three hours while wires etc where maneuvered around in my main pump and I feel quite normal. The wrist entry was used instead of the groin entry which made things easier for me. When I finally logged on to check emails there were 742 in my inbox and I've been deleting most of them but there are too many to delete all at once which I hoped to do. I am not done with this yet but when is finished to the point that I can become active again I am looking forward to cleaning up my C300 which has not had a bath since late February. The annual MBCA car show is in August and I hope I can participate. RLE ... That would be Roger clay On Aug 3, 2013, at 3:27 PM, WILTON wrote: How 'bout 10358 44th Ave. NE, Seattle? Re: [MBZ] Roger?
Sorry for your loss, I know it is hard to deal with, but your statements are not generally correct. If your dad's doc was not doing the right thing, or was not in tune with an old man, then you should have sought a 2nd opinion, and probably should have done that anyway whether you were dissatisfied or not. The right doc can make a difference, if only to make the process better. A lot of my wife's patients are over 60, and I can assure you they do not get Toyota treatment (and she drives a classic Benz!). (That is a whole nuther discussion) And cancer is not /*A*/ disease, that term covers a whole lot of different diseases. Sort of like asking, How do I fix my car? and then taking it to a random mechanic and saying, fix my car. Good luck with that approach. --R On 7/31/13 3:41 PM, clay wrote: Pretty complex disease for a simple cure. The doc was a total waste of human cells. Chinese and focused on boobs, not old people with other forms of cancer. I tried to get my parents to take action to get better care, but they feared retribution. That says a bunch about the level of care available. A complaint was filed with the head of oncology, which led to a minor change in care. By then it was far too late, as her mismanagement had destroyed his white cells, caused edema that became pnuemonia, and withheld chemo for more than half the treatment cycle. All the problems her negligence caused would have been avoided by a modicum of attention in the first month of treatment. The only reason malpractice claims have not been filed, is that my mother fears retribution and just wants the whole mess to be over. clay On Jul 31, 2013, at 12:57 PM, Rich Thomas wrote: Sorry for your loss, I know it is hard to deal with, but your statements are not generally correct.
