How slow do you reckon that would be? Its the same OM601 as in my 190D,
actually a 200D you'd figure would be smaller than the 2.2l in my 190D. Its got
to be 240D speed...

Should turn out fair mileage though, or kilometerage anyway.

Maybe I should buy it since I don't have anything to tow my utility

They need to post some pics of the engine compartment.

And what's with the fender mirrors??

Otherwise it looks interesting. Bet that $985 current bid is going to go up
considerably by the auction close.

I would have used the older non aero type of mirrors that were

Ok, I'd say of you're interested in passing some time, please go check it
out! But don't go out of your way.

Most important to me is lack of rust and rust repair. And condition of the
interior. Original everything is good, even if its in desperate need of
service. Hack job repairs and non original parts are a major turn off.

But clean original rocker panels would make this car.

Thanks

I had them on my '59 Alfa Guilietta Spyder Veloce.

As the website says,

They were first seen on the 300SL Gullwing in 1955.

Positively locked into position, the mirror is virtually
vibration free.

That's the truth, and they don't get knocked out of adjustment.

Maybe Curt should buy it and use it for an insulation blower. It could

Its in great condition interior and body wise, engine runs but has a
blown cylinder. Engine either needs to be rebuilt or another engine
swapped in. If I ever get around to it I will probably do the swap.
Thinking about going turbo.

I think the display in the trunk is a little much... and a
little disturbing. The car was built in 1952...

Beyond that... its "restored", but certainly not to original condition...
the interior doesn't fit the car.

Its nice to see one of these still on the road, but its sad that it fell
into these hands in my opinion.

Many little details were not restored. Honestly, it looks like it was
resprayed and maybe had the bumpers rechromed. The interior is hideous.

Agreed. About all I can say in favor of it is at least there are a

Yeah, that spare tire is at least three decades worth of anachronism. Looks like
it belongs in a W201. The radio is way wrong too. The hodgepodge of WWII
memorabilia is a real head scratcher. What were they thinking?

The trunk display can go in the trash where it belongs.. or hand it back to
the current owner when you take the car. Same for the radio.

Does "Q" have parts for this car? Would love to add it to the collection
as a "sometimes Sunday driver" and to detail out and show it perhaps.

Just a thought. Can't be very many left running and on the market can there?

2012-03-13 Thread Jaime Kopchinski
Good question about parts... I happen to have the EPC open on my PC right
now, so I looked up 136.181... the catalog is really nice to look at!
There are actual pictures of the parts from the original parts books, not
just drawings like later cars.

Some parts are available, like tie rod ends for $155 list. Many others
come up as not available. My impression is this would be a very expensive
car to do work on and the classic center would have to help you quite a bit.

I rank this with reclining rear seats. A nice option if you can get it, but
since it’s unlikely I’ll ever be riding in the back a waste (to me.) And it
doesn't make a lot of sense considering the price. Ouch.

These are plug-ins... depending on your commute distance and if you have a
charger on each end, you can do really well in terms of economy. And the
boost from the electric motor is quite entertaining in terms of
acceleration. The haptic feedback in the accelerator pedal makes it easy
to control transition from electric to gas if you're looking for economy, a
very good feature.

We have one in the fleet, so I've logged quite a bit of time behind the
wheel. Event from the perspective of older Mercedes, the S class is still
really the king.
