Might actually be a workable swap with the right gearing! It's
certainly a good price if it runs at all. Infiniti took a lot longer
than Lexus to catch on and I don't think their more expensive models
have ever really had the cachet that an LS400 (say) does, so they seem
to depreciate rather quickly. But they are built just as well and the
early Q45s in particular are darn fast. Only problem is limited
headroom. (I'm 6 feet with short legs and a long torso, and I'm
comfortable in a W124 with the seat all the way down but bump my head
in a lot of Japanese cars no matter how I adjust things.)

I think you will find that a ten year old, little known japanese car that gets
20mpg on premium has depreciated 50-70% in the last six months. remember the
guy
on mercedesshop who lowered his asking price to $1700 on a decent euro 500sel
before he found a buyer?

Yeah, I guess the only surprising thing about it is that the price is
that high. Bet it sells for half of what Kaleb's mint E420 did.

I am reminded of the well-maintained, cosmetically perfect BMW 750iL
on Portland Craigslist that I was tempted by last year. The guy kept
reposting it and lowering the price---I almost bit when it hit $1K.
If he were trying to get rid of it now he'd be better off selling it
for scrap.

Good point, those suckers are heavy, and contain a lot of aluminum. Probably
worth $500-700 crushed.
