Re: [MBZ] Yet another computer problem
Bill, Try pulling the CMOS Battery and replace it with a fresh one. I had a client that has a Dell Optiplex that was doing the same thing last week. Pulled the battery and tested it. Voltage was Ok. Reinstalled it and same thing No Keyboard present. For Grins and Giggles I installed a brand new battery. Restarted it and Keyboard worked. Good luck with the PS2 to USB converters Dell's don't like them. I tried 6 on my Optiplex 320 none worked. Yet 4 of the 6 worked on my laptop with the same keyboard. Russ W. Either the USB driver chip on the motherboard, or the portion of the motherboard that communicates with USB. A PCI USB card might work if the problem is the former. No mouse, and I have tried a daisy chain usb connected to the back [where the keyboard has been plugged in for months] and the front usb with no success. When the keyboard stopped responding the mouse never gets a chance because I can never respond to the screen menu to load anything. The only input I have is on/off.
