Wouldn't it be priceless if you could just install a battery in it, start it up, and drive away? I don't think most people get very far trying to jump a perfect 616 or 617.

I more or less did that, though I was not able to drive it away as a friend had dragged it back from Boston. Try 3-year-old diesel in the tank ten minutes of cranking through fresh diesel later, one 300sd with bad engine bought off eVILbay for $300 became the engine donor for my w116 SD, and possibly the fastest and best running OM617 I have ever driven to date, to boot. Sadly, I had to sell the car after a job loss six months later. Damn, still pissed about that. Mac

The hood fell off and he did not even bother to stick it back on. Maybe the release is busted too. And the amount of rust in the there really inspires confidence that the engine will remain with the car if you hit a pot hole. then again, for $50, it may be worth parts On Sunday, July 31, 2005, at 05:08 PM, Mitch Haley wrote: Kaleb C. Actually I've jumpstarted Hammie before and my 300TD wagon before that. The trick is to be patient. I hook up the jumpers, hop in the truck, crank up the tunes and wait. After 5 minutes or so I'll see how badly the dome light dims when I hit the glows. Too much dim (very subjective I know) and it gets another 5 minutes. At -20F I've sat for a long time probably because the battery in the truck isn't at its best at that temp... -Curt '83 240D Hammie 242kmi Date: Sun, 31 Jul 2005 20:08:12 -0400 From: Mitch Haley [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [MBZ] a REALLY cheap 240D To: Mercedes mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Kaleb C. Not to quibble, but isn't the interior vinyl rather than leather? On 8/1/05, Curt Raymond [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Actually I've jumpstarted Hammie before and my 300TD wagon before that. Almost everyone in the known car universe, outside of mercedesdom, calls mbtex leather. Way beyond me as to why, but I hardly notice anymore it's so universal.
