Re: [MBZ] leaking water pump
Looks like a one time issue. There is no further leakage or spray. will order the parts anyway. Re: [MBZ] leaking water pump
Gump seems to have a leak in the water pump area. Once they start to seep the leak usually gets a lot worse very quickly. You can probably get away with driving it, but I wouldn't plan on any long trips and I'd keep a few gallons of water in the trunk. -- Jim

It sounds like the designed in weep hole is letting you know to replace the pump before it strands you in the middle of nowhere. Jeff Zedic Toronto 87 300TD

Clay, Usually the seal goes bad because the water pump bearing has begun to fail. Grab hold of the fan blades and give them a wiggle in a direction not constrained by the V-belt. If you can see the pump shaft move, failure is imminent and you drive with the risk that physical damage to the radiator may occur, as well as any overheating created problems. Cast iron heads are not immune to cracking under overheating conditions, ask a man that has one for available for a boat anchor. Regards, and keep your ears open.
