The article should be online within a few days, and I will try to remember to post a URL when that happens. The article is almost identical to the article published in the Mercury News, with a few sentences relevant to Tech added. The Mercury article mentions a $1100 prize for finding a prime. Who is offering this? I wasn't aware that any such prize was involved in GIMPS. (The prize was also mentioned in the Lode article, but I assumed they had confused GIMPS with distributed.net or some such.) -andy -- Andy Isaacson [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]Fight Spam, join CAUCE: http://www.csl.mtu.edu/~adisaacs/ http://www.cauce.org/

Mersenne: GIMPS Exposure
Just thought everyone might like to know that the Baltimore Sunday Sun ran a full page (almost) article on GIMPS in their 'A' section (Page 2) on 11/08/98 It was credited to a Sun Writer and therefore I don't think it was a syndicated piece. Unfortunately however they did not see fit to archive the article on their web site www.sunspot.net Maybe there is a web service out there that does archive newspapers. Anyone know of one?
