RE: OK... I know what the problem was

2000-12-10 Thread Xavier Bury

i have reported the same kind of problems using metaframe (8bit color) when
transfering the stacks developped with my NT4 workstation (24 bit color). My
problem was the shading of the fields would go away. The only solution was
to change the field's style from Scrolling to Rect and back to Scrolling and
then it would be OK...

so developping first for a lower grade pc is the best way to go in these
cases... not normal but we have to deal with it... Im 100% sure that Macs
shouldn't be affected with this, it seems more like a windows feature - like
the 16 color lousy icons.

Whew... he says as he wipes the sweat from his brow ;-\

The problem was that I had developed the program in true 16 bit or 32 bit
color and the laptop was set to 256 colors. Has anyone got a
 workaround for
this problem or do you just specify that the program needs 16 bit
 color? Why
where images visible but button icons not? Seems a bit strange to me.

 Monte

Re: central repository for web related metacard examples

I am so thrilled to see the explosion of internet connectivity stacks and
discussions. I wish I had the skill that so many of you show in your knowledge
and programing. There are a few example stacks scattered here and there on the
net for which we should be very grateful to the authors. I would like to offer
a site where all MC related internet conectivity stacks can be centralized
for downloading by neophytes like myself. Anyone with anything they are
willing to offer the community at large can place them there for free access.
Is this redundant? Unneccessary? If folks are interested I'd be happy to set
it up and post the links around. Let me know. Peter

We host such a site: just email in a stack and we'll post it. We will
shortly be upgrading our facilities to offer ftp upload and download (thats
not quite there yet). So I think adding another site would be redundant.
Or is there something our site doesn't / won't do that you are looking for?
Perhaps we could add that?
