Because there are lots of media types associated with Quicktime you can use a range of tools. For movies - you can use various video editors - including Adobe Premiere cheaper PC options: MovieXone - http://www.aist.com/products Quick Editor - http://www.wild.ch/quickeditor If you're interested in interactive movies I recommend Macromedia Flash to add one layer of interactivity & MetaCard for another ;) Also, TotallyHip are supposed to be bring out a PC version of LiveStage Pro http://www.totallyhip.com Good links - http://www.judyandrobert.com/quicktime/ Most good QT sw is MAC-based but with a bit a juggling you can produce quality QT content on the PC. Another option - buy a 2nd-hand iMac :) Most of my students own PC's but still mainly use our lab of G3's to edit digital video. Alex Shaw Intermedia / Fine Art Dept. MC-based VPN, Gnutella, and other Net tools
>From my last request I've gotten a great many links to some very cool MetaCard apps, but relatively few which make use of MC's powerful socket support. I've seen that Pierre Sahores and others have a strong interest in this area, but I haven't been able to find publicly available apps as yet. Are there any MC apps which are in development which use Net protocols (HTTP, FTP, custom) as an integral part of its functionality? Any of those likely to be released this year? If anyone's making VPN tools, I'd be curious to know how you handle encryption for that context, or if it's relevant at all to the type of tool you're making. Anyone making a Gnutella client? Any other peer-to-peer tools? Anyone making an MC GUI interface for media stored on an HTTP server? Anyone sending stacks over the Net? If I can find three or four such projects, I'd like to include profiles of the application and the developer as part of an article on why Net GUIs can sometimes make more sense outside of the browser. Also: Pierre - what's your email address? That is, this is an object of type > "graphic" and not of type "image". I've noticed that the statement > > Set the icon of button "X" to graphic "Y" > > does nothing. It is not possible to directly use a graphic as image icon, but there is a work around. For setting the icon to an image use: set the icon of button "MyButton" to "45" -- in which "45" is the ID of the image object containing the icon For setting the icon to an graphic use: import snapshot from rect (the rect of graphic "MyGraphic") of window (the windowID of this stack) -- a snapshot is taken from the graphic, which is imported as image -- so make sure that nothing overlaps the graphic -- assuming that there are no other images on this card -- (so that the number of the image will be "1"): set the icon of "MyButton" to the ID of image 1 > I'm a beginner (obviously) in the graphics-in-MetaCard arena. Well, I always use GIF, because that supports transparency and is cross- platform (unlike BMP or PICT). MisterX wrote/ schreef: > Great Suggestion! > How about making a skin/concept/theme/mod manager for MC? Very good idea! When I tried to make a skin option in one of my applications before, I experienced a big wall in this. A skin manager would be really nice, with e.g. an option to change fonts. That brings me to my next point: what also would be a nice feature is to include fonts in stacks (something that *is* possible in e.g. Flash...).
