Just only I have got this letter from Lars. :-) So it looks "complexity" and "simplicity" is very subjective, And probably depends on experience of developer. Let me chime in that there are two different aspects of using valentina, each with its own level of complexity and learning curve. 1. Using valentina as a database engine in metacard -- quite easy and not much to learn 2. designing and maintaining databases, particularly when taking full advantage of relational features -- that can be easy or a can of warms depending on your background and experience. RE: Metacard beginner question
From my 'limited' understanding (correct me or slap me), most of the MC programmers seem to be on UNIX/Linux/PC platforms and have been using it for awhile -- heavy duty coders;-). MC seems to have a more robust (doesn't crash) IDE, but without as many features. A lot of Mac users and newbies prefer the more feature rich (and sometimes complicated?) IDE of RunRev. Slap slap slap! :-) I chose MC and I'm on a Mac. My understanding is that you can *do* the same things with MC or Rev. You can build the same programs. Rev has added features to the programming environment, but the basic functionality is the same for both. You could just as easily roll your own in MC, if you choose. At the time I made my choice, a year ago, MC was more stable. I had too many crashes in Rev where I lost my code and had to rewrite it. I've had crashes in MC, but I don't think I've ever lost the code. That made the choice for me. As for features in the IDE, if I can do what I want to do, the features don't really matter. The one thing that Rev does do better, is the help docs. That is my biggest gripe with MC. I am used to much more detailed help docs, Hypertalk 2.2 being my programming bible for so many years. So we have the list (all of you :-) and the archives and a few websites with some good info. But then, you didn't say *all*, you did say *most*... :-) Shari C -- --Shareware Games for the Mac-- http://www.gypsyware.com ___ metacard mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/metacard
