Re: Bug Report 2.5b6

This happens with converted HyperCard stacks. HyperCard has only one
kind of popup button, and so your choices are similarly limited when
the stack is brought into MetaCard. You need to set the hcAddresing
property to false, which will elminate this behavior and allow you
to set any kind of menu button you need. (All HC imported stacks
have their hcAddressing set to true by default.)

Thanks!

I've discovered that such stacks even have difficulty when you create
a new button. I sometimes forget they've been imported, as they are
now so different than the original.

Thank you, Jacque!

His problem may be more related to the new behavior of the 2.5 engine.
From the Read Me: "rectangle" style buttons now draw using Aqua
routines on MacOS unless the backColor or backPattern of the button has
been set.

I'll try to choose popup, or option, or one of those styles, and it's as
if the current style is locked. The button may or may not reflect the
change, but the dialog is locked. When it happens, even creating a new
button, will still be locked.

I wonder if your fix would fix this too :-)

I was told a while back that it would be included, but it hasn't

Cool!

I also noticed you pointed out that "Sort cards of this
background by card field one" (for example) i.e. sort
cards by background does not yet work. Is that
scheduled for 2.5 or later? It doesn't seem to work in
2.5b6.

A workaround for that is to put a hidden field on each
card with the number of the background and then to do a
series of sorts

sort cards by card field title --or whatever...
sort cards by hiddenBackGround

as long as the backgrounds are sequentially numbered I
believe this works fine, though I have only tested it
very briefly.

Yup. I reported this a day or two ago, so it is on the to-fix list.

A temporary workaround, which I will try, is to import
the stack from MC 2.4.3 and then use it in 2.5. I see
no reason why that would not work.
That's what I did. It works fine.

Bug Report 2.5b6

2003-03-29 Thread eric . allen . engle
Sorry to say the MC 2.5b6 does not import pop up
buttons from hypercard properly.

These are buttons with "contents", of style "Popup".
The buttons import, the scripts import, but the
contents do not.

At first I thought this was just an incompatibility or
a failure to compact my stack before importing. Nope.
Further, I checked it in 2.4.3 - in 2.4.3 the contents
of popup buttons imported from hypercard are retained.

So, it's a bug.

A temporary workaround, which I will try, is to import
the stack from MC 2.4.3 and then use it in 2.5. I see
no reason why that would not work.

On a brighter note, the styled text in 2.5b6 works
wonderfully! All accented characters which I tested
(lower case accent grave, aigu, circonflex, and es-zet)
worked fine, even when mixed with italics and export
properly as RTF. Colors do not though, but presume that
is not a bug.

Now that we have a firewall I am going to see about
getting the metacard internet browser running through a
proxy. No promises though.
