I get the same blue screen with Mozilla 1.2.1 -- which is similar to
netscape 7. People are not likely to download your stack if they have to
download and install a new browser to do it. Like me, they will just
skip it.

it's similar but it's not like Netscape 7 because NS7 works!

Note NS7 even sees an extra picture you dont see in IE!
I've never liked Netscape for their bugs and it still seems true today!

But I will download Mozilla to see... Does www.phpnuke.org work for you or
do you just see also a blue screen? I need to know this in case it's a bug
in my phpnuke installation...

does
http://monsieurx.com/modules.php?name=Downloadsd_op=getitlid=21

work for your browser?

RE: Metacard beginner question

2002-12-04 Thread Shari
From my 'limited' understanding (correct me or slap me), most of the MC
programmers seem to be on UNIX/Linux/PC platforms and have been using it for
awhile -- heavy duty coders;-). MC seems to have a more robust (doesn't
crash) IDE, but without as many features. A lot of Mac users and newbies
prefer the more feature rich (and sometimes complicated?) IDE of RunRev.

Slap slap slap!
:-)

I chose MC and I'm on a Mac.

My understanding is that you can *do* the same things with MC or Rev.
You can build the same programs. Rev has added features to the
programming environment, but the basic functionality is the same for
both. You could just as easily roll your own in MC, if you choose.

At the time I made my choice, a year ago, MC was more stable. I had
too many crashes in Rev where I lost my code and had to rewrite it.
I've had crashes in MC, but I don't think I've ever lost the code.
That made the choice for me.

As for features in the IDE, if I can do what I want to do, the
features don't really matter. The one thing that Rev does do better,
is the help docs. That is my biggest gripe with MC. I am used to
much more detailed help docs, Hypertalk 2.2 being my programming
bible for so many years.

So we have the list (all of you :-) and the archives and a few
websites with some good info.

But then, you didn't say *all*, you did say *most*... :-)

And in case you don't know, this revolution thing where all these links
point you to, is metacard in disguise so the stacks are compatible.

Hi Andu,
Thanks, I figured they were, do I simply change the extension from .REV to .MC
to get them to work in Metacard?

RE: Metacard beginner question

2002-12-03 Thread Chipp Walters
John,

There are some subtle differences between MC and RR. You can of course
change the .rev to .mc and some will work...but others won't. There are some
custom commands and libraries in RR that don't exist in MC, and I suppose
the reverse is true as well. If it doesn't seem to work in MC, contact the
author for help.

I know for a fact some of my demo stacks work only in RR (the archive plugin
for instance). I need to tweak it a bit for MC. Both MC and RR are fine
programming environments, each with it's plusses and minuses -- and both
work using the MC engine.

The
choice is completely up to the user -- some of them (like myself) own
licenses to both products. I personally use RR more than MC but you'll find
many others who prefer the other way around.

You also might want to subscribe the the runrev lists as well. There's good
content over there which pertains to both programming environments.
