Great find Arlene!
You had 2 great guides (lets not forget Brix!) but you are still the one
who found the newest Nevada meteorite.

And,
I have the newest Arizonian.
No, I was not in Arizona, and I really don't hunt, but this one was
actually found by Dr. Laurence Garvie from ASU. So yes, of course, it has
alredy
been classified, and it is an L6, and it will soon show up on the Met.
Database under the name of Chandler. Very nice crusted smallish stone,
only 305g.
Thank you Laurence.

And, Guys, if the scientists are now doing their own hunting, you have

[meteorite-list] Home Made Wire Saw

2010-12-12 Thread Guenther
Has anyone here built their own wire saw? I can't imagine spending thousands
of dollars on a new one, but I definitely want to have my own. I have looked
everywhere for a good method to slice up a rock and the best method to avoid
waste is a wire saw.

Thanks.

Re: [meteorite-list] the bolide thing

2010-12-12 Thread Meteorites USA
This is good news... So the "scientific community" and "researchers"
will probably have access to fireball/airburst again... I wonder what
the definition of scientific community and researcher will be, and if
that means regular civilians and/or laymen won't get access. Perhaps
they will set it up similar to how NASA's NEO website or NEXRAD is setup.
