[meteorite-list] AD: Affordable Cat Mountain Slices

2012-06-03 Thread Ruben Garcia
Hi all,

Here's one for all of you impact melt breccia lovers!

I've just received my Cat Mountain slices which are the only small
(and thin, about 2 mm) Cat Mountain full slices available. The largest
slice is only 6.2 grams which makes these VERY affordable.

look here:
http://www.mrmeteorite.com/catmountain.htm

Each specimen sold will come with a copy of a general
appraisal/classification/description (by Ted Bunch) of the 107.2 gram
stone before it was cut - of which I bought the 62 gram end cut and
made these slices.

I pay regular shipping (anywhere in the world) and will add delivery
confirmation in the USA. THIS APPLIES ONLY ON FULL SLICES SOLD. All
other specimens please add $5.00 for shipping.

Rock On!

[meteorite-list] Ad Potter Nebraska

2012-06-03 Thread Jack Schrader
Dear List,

http://stores.ebay.com/OtherWorldsMeteorites

I have added a very nice piece of a very hard to acquire meteorite with
outstanding provenance, a 32.87 gram partial end cut of Potter, Nebraska.  This
sample was cut from a 625 gram piece originally in the Nininger collection,
AML# 476.289, and later in the J.M. Dupont Collection. This sample comes with
both a photocopy of the original collection card, and the card from Michael
Farmer Meteorites.  Check out the address on Mike Farmer's card too which is
historic in itself.  The address is his apartment on St Marys Road in Tucson
where I first met Mike more than 15 years ago when he was just getting started
in this business.

Please while you are at it, have a look at my eBay store.  New items are being
added weekly.

I will be gone on vacation from June 7 to June 14 in a remote area so you may
not be able to contact me during this time.  I will quickly handle any orders
or questions on my return on Thursday, June 14th.

Best wishes, Jack

[meteorite-list] Maps Showing Stages in the Deglaciation of North America

2012-06-03 Thread Paul H.
Hi,

For those people interested in background information for
the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis, a paper with maps
showing the stages in the last Pleistocene deglaciation of
North America can downloaded from online for free for a
period of time.

The paper is:

Dyke, A. S., 2004, An outline of North American deglaciation
with emphasis on central and northern Canada. in J. Ehlers and
P.L. Gibbard, eds., pp. 373-424, Quaternary Glaciations-Extent
and Chronology — Part II: North America. vol. 2, Part B.
Elsiever, New York, New York.

The paper can be downloaded from
http://academic.macewan.ca/furzem/files/2011/10/Dyke-2004.pdf

The link to this paper is in "October 3rd – Yellowknife" at
http://academic.macewan.ca/furzem/2011/10/03/october-3rd-yellowknife/

An animation showing the deglaciation of North America
can be found in “The Last Deglaciation of North America,
21,400 - 5700 years ago, animation” at
http://emvc.geol.ucsb.edu/2_infopgs/IP2IceAge/aDeglacNoAm.html

Best wishes,

Paul H.
