[meteorite-list] [AD]: The story of the "Green-Eyed" Lodranite, the "Not-So" Ordinairy Chondrite and the Easter Bunny
OK, truth be told this has nothing to do with the Easter bunny, except that this ad is being published today. I am pleased to announce that slices of the new Lodranite breccia are now available for sale on my website. Why did I name it the "Green-Eyed" lodranite? Because of the gorgeous green clinopyroxene crystals (diopside) that just pop out of the surface of the stone. The slices and end-cuts for sale may be found at http://www.meteoritesusa.com/nwa-8251-lodranite-breccia-green-eyed-lodranite/ Now that everyone has settled back into their routines after the LPSC in Houston last month, I would like to invite you to look at the "Not-So" ordinary chondrite, NWA 8276 an L3.00 (W1 and shock < 2). Do the research and you will see that such a petrological type is rare (almost as rare as an actual Easter bunny laying eggs). These specimens may be found at http://www.meteoritesusa.com/meteorites-for-sale-4/nwa-8276-l3-00-w1-a-remarkable-and-scientifically-important-meteorite/ Now if you are really in the mood, you should also check out the CO3.0 and one of the freshest H7 ever found as well. Finally, please go check out my eBay listings as well: http://www.ebay.com/usr/skyfallmeteorites All material is available for institutional trades or sales and the main mass of the L3.00 is available for sale as well. Enjoy your day no matter how you celebrate it - I'm off to eat more matzoh. [meteorite-list] AD - EBAY - Eagle Station with old label, Silicate-bearing iron. Auction on a 177g Gao on EBAY
Hello list, I have recently added some new pieces to my Ebay store: - A 37g end cut of the very rare pallasite Eagle Station, with an old label! A pallasite found in 1880, in Kentucky. A very interesting isotopic link exists between the Eagle Station trio (Eagle Station grouplet with Cold Bay, Itzawisis and the newly recognized Karavannoe) and the carbonaceous chondrites of the CO/CV clan. Anybody interested by this piece, contact me directly before you use the Best Offer button as I can accept a much lower price this way. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eagle-Station-Meteorite-Pallasite-37-g-With-Old-Label-Found-in-1880-Kentucky-/321380270008?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad3c1bfb8 - A 64g full slice, half iron/half silicate of the NWA 5549, a silicate-bearing iron meteorite linked to winonaites. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meteorite-NWA-5549-64-g-Silicate-Bearing-Iron-Meteorite-linked-to-winonaites-/221408123917?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338cf3dc0d - The main mass, 14.38 g, of the Eucrite NWA 5803, uncommon matrix and glossy fusion crust. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eucrite-Meteorite-HED-NWA-5803-Main-Mass-14-38-g-with-glossy-crust-/321380304646?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad3c24706 Finally, a beautiful 177g Gao currently on auction : ultrasonically cleaned so the fusion crust is as fresh as when it fell. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meteorite-GAO-177g-with-97-black-fusion-crust-/221417927964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338d89751c Thank you very much and Happy Easter! Re: [meteorite-list] Murmansk Fireball
There seems to be numerous other video recordings of this fireball from Russian dashcams: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OJRwIHn4rg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xsbzvR3Lk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AThsm7etclk I'll post something on this on the web pages of the Norwegian Meteor Network since it was seen also from Norway, but I currently have little time to track down the sources of the YouTube videos to get positions and directions. Anyone willing to help out? If this produced any meteorites, I cannot say yet whether they fell in Russia, Finland or Norway. -- Steinar __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] Murmansk Fireball
The Norwegian Meteor Network has received a report of a fireball observed 2014-04-18 22:15UTC at 70.08482N 29.71802E towards SSW. That would place it near the Russian/Norwegian or Russian/Finnish border. Not over the sea. It was reported to illuminate the sky, but not the terrain. So probably up to full moon luminocity. Since the time agrees by 1 minute (assuming the camera was set to local Murmansk time), it's very likely the same fireball. Are there other sightings or any information about the video? -- Steinar __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
