Because they are ultimately clueless, "too dumb to get a real job-- 
'journalist"; so used to distorting the world they correctly assume that 99.9% 
of the viewers will believe what they are told to believe.  " Yeah, Bishar this 
looks like a meteor trail to me wink wink, lets use it and get an early lunch!"

Elton and Tommy,  Elton I think that you hit the nail on the head.  I have no 
evidence that any of the images that they used for their tv news were of the 
event and yes the one footage segment that they replayed was of a recycled jet 
contrail (also used in the past week for the UK event).  Their impact crater 
was a large pothole/ small sinkhole in the highway.
