[meteorite-list] Killer 10kg Taza Seymchan Specimens - AD

2015-05-26 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Dear List,

Last week I announced the beautiful Seymchan specimens that I recently
received from Marlin Cilz and with near-wholesale pricing, pieces are making
there way to some very happy collectors. There is still a great selection
and I added three more pieces that arrived after my post last week. I priced
the two smallest slices at a higher rate than wholesale due to their
exceptional beauty and amount of 'green' crystals along with being mainly
crystalline. I will accept offers on those two if they don't sell this week
so don't be shy about making an offer. All available Seymchan specimens can
be seen on Nature's Vault:
http://www.naturesvault.net/meteorites/seymchan.html

Now to the new and killer sculptural 10kg Taza individual...

This 10kg (9883g) sculptural Taza iron meteorite was originally purchased in
uncleaned condition at the Ensisheim Show by me in 2011 and then
professionally cleaned by Keith and Dana Jenkerson in 2015. Notice how all
of the fine flow lines, troilite inclusions and all of the regmaglypts have
been revealed! This is available for sale and I am asking for the best offer
of $35,000.00 or higher. If someone is interested at the opening price I
will accept by midnight this Friday, May 29th EST. If there are more than
one person interested I will let them know what current offer is and see how
that works out. I may enter it into a large auction house if it does not
find a good home soon.

Thank you for for looking and I look forward to sharing these exceptional
specimens with other collectors!

Thanks, Mike.

Congratulations to Marissa and 'her' team of hunters! That is awesome that
she found her very first two meteorites and that the team as a whole found a
great amount. This is truly a memorable moment for Marissa and those who
hunted with her, and of course all of those who supported her dream! Way to

Good morning, list. I just got home (4am) and am off to bed, but
wanted to share the final tally:

Marissa: 2
Debbie (aide): 2
Rogan: 4
Mike: 4

It was an amazing trip, 2 dense collection areas in 3 days, many
pictures and videos to follow. A lifetime of memories is the most
rewarding find.

[meteorite-list] NWA 8744 Shock-melted Diogenite Breccia (Re-Introduction Sale) - AD

2015-05-07 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Dear Diogenite Lovers,

This is my 'Re-Introduction Sale' of NWA 8744 as my first time was just
before the U.S. Income Tax deadline and I believe meteorite purchases may
have been put on hold at that time. To encourage sales I have marked these
down by 30% to offer even greater savings for an incredible meteorite!!

Original announcement from 3-26-2015:

You will be shocked to see these exceptional specimens from NWA 8744, a
highly Shock-melted Diogenite Breccia.

NWA 8744 is a rare example of a highly shocked and vesiculated diogenite
breccia. Among the numerous small vesicles, a huge 16mm x 42mm 'vug' was
discovered in the 1356-gram stone and can be seen in the majority of slices
as an oval 'hole' in the slices. The vesicles are primarily located in the
gray melt zones and along the boundaries along the less-melted matrix zones.

This exciting new meteorite is classified as a melt-matrix breccia
consisting of clasts of orthopyroxenitic diogenite, feldspathic diogenite
and noritic diogenite plus related crystalline debris within a predominant,
very fine grained, vesicular matrix. All orthopyroxene is turbid and pale
clove brown in thin section and is notably ferroan; calcic plagioclase
(anorthite) is polycrystalline. Some orthopyroxene contains irregular
patches of clinopyroxene. Accessory phases are chromite, olivine and minor
troilite blebs in orthopyroxene.

To see all that are available, please go to my Nature's Vault web site here:
http://www.naturesvault.net/meteorites/nwa8744.html

Thank you for looking, and if you are interested in purchasing one of these
affordably-priced specimens, please do not hesitate!

Best Regards,
Greg

Privacy is only an illusion, especially on the internet. Yes,
Facebook mines everything you post because they provide a free service
and the bills have to be paid. Facebook doesn't force anyone to
participate.

Every move you make online anywhere is monitored. Everything you
search for, every link you click, every email you send - it is all
monitored. Don't forget, the internet is a creation of the DIA
(Defense Intelligence Agency) to allow government officials to keep in
touch in the event of a nuclear war. Don't think for a second that
any creation of the military/government is not watching you.

Everything you send to this Met-List is monitored. Although, I would
much rather have Art in charge of things than Zuckerberg.

IMO, the Met-List will always be relevant. When it comes to
meteorites, redundancy is not a bad thing. Everyone thought MySpace
was immortal and look what happened to that. Facebook could go away
tomorrow and the Met-List would still be here. In fact, the Met-List
has been aroun d longer than Facebook or MySpace.

Facebook has become a regular watering hole for meteorite people. It
doesn't mean it is better or worse than the Met-List. There is no
crime in frequenting both venues. My sole purpose for being on
Facebook is sales - same for Twitter and every other social media
site. If I want to see someone or talk to them, I get in the truck
and go pay them a visit, or ring them on the phone.

If one is concerned about privacy, then don't use the internet. Also,
don't drive around traffic cameras. Don't do anything within sight of
a surveillance camera. And do not attend any public events. Don't
talk on the phone either - that is being monitored also. BTW, your
cable box is a small computer and it tracks your every move - every
show you watch, for how long you watch, when you watch, what you order
on PPV, how you interact, etc. All watched and logged.

Be sure to wear a tinfoil hat and mylar poncho when going outdoors,
because satellites are watching you.

As far as government goes, we have nobody to blame but ourselves -
we elected them. The government officials didn't arrive in a
spaceship from another galaxy, they were selected as the cream of the
private-sector crop and put into office by us. Politicians are not
born, big business creates them. If you don't like government
forcing you to buy insurance (or do anything else), then stop
electing corporate drones, lawyers, and other career liars whose sole
interest is power and wealth.

[meteorite-list] Seymchan 13.5kg 'All in one Package' - AD

2015-04-30 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Dear List and Pallasite Fans,

I just received the largest part of a 54 kilo flat/round Seymchan that many
people were scratching their heads over at this years Tucson Show... Common
thought was, Is there enough crystals?... I gambled and lucked out with an
extremely wonderful pallasite that has the best of ALL the worlds this
meteorite has to offer; Green Crystals, Large Chromite inclusions, Great
balance of crystals-metal (luckily about 2/3 crystals). I, along with
several people who are experts with pallasites, decided on the best way to
cut this stone, glad I consulted them because this was my first time diving
into a large pallasite venture. Thank you Marlin Cilz and all of the others
who freely advised me how to best reveal what this particular stone had to
offer!

Here are a couple of images of the 13,510 gram end cut and largest piece
from the 54kg mass, and Yes, I am accepting offers and am placing an
extremely low starting point of just $30,000.00. I am not an auction house
so you will not expect to add an extra 20% to high offer, just high offer
and shipping/insurance.

Seymchan 13,510 gram End Cut
47cm x 14cm x 10cm

Polished face:

Natural side:
http://www.naturesvault.net/Images/Products/Meteorites/Seymchan/Seymchan13510gEndCut2.jpg

I will consider offers for one week and let the person/entity with highest
offer know next Thursday, May 7th.

As for slices of this wonderful mix of Pallasitic Pleasure, I will have
about 30 'thin' slices to offer as they arrive from Marlin, first 16 slices
should be tomorrow. I will also offer these at competitive rates and each
slice will be priced according to its own individual character and look, not
at the rate of the large end cut... but still excellent discounts!

Thank you for having a look and I appreciate the offers!

Best Regards,
Greg

Hi Bernd, Tracy, all.

Most of my meteorite related chat now occurs via Facebook and this is
what i observe from many others too. Numerous people within our
meteorite community who were regular posters here on the metlist i now
see posting daily in the various facebook groups and forums. I know
it's not for everyone but i for one would certainly feel as if i was
missing out on the latest meteorite news and chat if I were not on
Facebook.

I have done quite a few posts over the last year where i have
submitted the same post via various different forums and plarforms to
try and see which generated the most conversation and i have to say
Facebook won by huge margins every single time.

Hope to see you on there maybe Bernd? Your experience and knowledge
would be hugely beneficial to everyone there :-)

Kind regards

Martin

Never heard of that seller.
He seems to be selling a little of everything and anything. His meteorites
are generally over-priced and in poor shape, look at all the rust on the
Dawn, the Brenham and the Admire! The descriptions are minimal, he appears
to have very little knowledge or understanding of meteorites.
That tiny Martian comes with a Hupe card, good provenance, but I think that

Hi Larry,

At 1:05 in the video, look just below the top level of clouds between the
clouds and the edge of the video in the lower-right corner of the video.
Then at 1:09 (1 minute 9 seconds), you will see a streak going from the
right side of the clouds to the edge of the video. The streak occurs for
only 1 second, so you have to be looking in the right area to see it at
1:09.

[meteorite-list] NWA 8744 Shock-melted Diogenite Breccia - AD

2015-03-26 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Dear Diogenite Lovers,

Best Regards,
Greg

Thank you all who have mentioned ET's new book. I bought two copies from

I look forward to diving into ET's adventures!

I Agree with John L. on Edwin's book!!

Edwin has certainly been a member of the meteorite community long
before most of us and did a lot of travel in order to get specimens in
the hands of collectors, museums and researchers.

It is great that we get to share some of these adventures with him now
after all of these years!

If you don't have a copy, find one and join the adventure.

Hello All,

This post is Not an AD---it is only my humble opinion.

Although I have decided not to finish his new book (EarthUnder) in normal
quick fashion but to savor it,
if you may be interested in an exciting adventure theme--his descriptive
writing is palpable--

you are there, I can see it, feel it and taste it.

In one way, i don't want to put it down and at the same time i don't want
it to end.

Re: [meteorite-list] Question about Norites - Lunar and Diogenite

2015-01-09 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Hi Mike and List,

NWA 773 (and all of its pairings, including my NWA 7007) can be seen on
Randy Korotev's lunar meteorite web site. This clan of lunaites is far more
complex than originally thought before all of the [launch-paired] meteorites
were discovered... http://meteorites.wustl.edu/lunar/stones/nwa0773.htm

There are quite a few abstracts published on these, especially a lot of work
performed on NWA 7007 at Washington University in St. Louis... For example:

Subject: [meteorite-list] Question about Norites - Lunar and Diogenite

Hi List,

I was looking at Norites recently, and I came across the only
lunar-origin Norite, the lunaite NWA 773. I had no knowledge of NWA
773 prior to stumbling across it's Noritic connection.

The visual similarities between lunar norite and Vestan norite are
apparent. I am assuming the major differences are noted in chemistry.
Do lunar and Vestan norites share any other characteristics that might
blur the line between their respective parent bodies? In other words,
are these two types of norites so closely related that their may be
some room for reconsideration when it comes to their parent body
origins? (i.e., possible they came from the same body, or a noritic
body impact on the parent, etc)

Best regards,

MikeG

[meteorite-list] Greg Hupe Nature's Vault, Inc. - Meteoritic Future Guaranteed!

2014-07-08 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Dear Meteorite Community,

In recent months my brother, Adam, has publicly commented several times that
he has taken steps to take a break from meteoritics, including selling his
equipment except for perhaps one saw. I feel compelled to send this notice
since many people mistake Adam for me and vice-versa even though I have been
primarily working on my own for the last 10 years since I moved to Florida.

While my brother has announced his break... I, Greg Hupe, strive to provide
the very best meteorites and customer service personally and through my
company, Nature's Vault, Inc. I am more engaged in all aspects of
meteoritics than ever before and look forward to working far into the future
to bring out more rare and exciting meteorites. I am here to stay and look
forward to working with like-minded individuals. I have many great friends
in all aspects of meteoritics and related fields such as space science and
travel.

The Hupe name and Nature's Vault will continue to be an integral part of
meteoritics far into the future!

[meteorite-list] Ensisheim Meteorite Show

2014-06-13 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Hello All,

In just a few short days some of us will start making or way to Europe and
congregate at the Ensisheim and Sainte Marie aux Mines shows. I am looking
forward to seeing many of my friends there, Ensisheim has always been my
favorite show when it comes down to pure meteorites, no beads or junk, just
meteorites and fun meteorite people! I am not sure what I am bringing to
offer for sale yet, so if I have anything that you may be interested in,
please send me an email and I will do my best to bring anything of interest.

Here is a little Ensisheim history to get warmed up by...

Ensisheim meteorite...

...a meteorite whose descent from the sky onto a wheat field in Alsace (now
part of France) in 1492 is one of the earliest instances of a meteorite fall
on record. Maximillian I, who was proclaimed Holy Roman emperor soon
afterward, assembled his council to determine the significance of this
event; their verdict was that the meteorite was a favorable omen for success
in Maximilian’s wars with France and Turkey. Accordingly, Maximilian
ordered the Ensisheim stone to be placed with an appropriate inscription in
the local parish church. The meteorite was fixed to the wall with iron
crampons to prevent it from wandering at night or departing in the same
violent manner in which it had arrived. It resides in the town of Ensisheim
today, although visitors in the intervening centuries chipped off all but 56
kg (123 pounds) of its original 127-kg mass.

See you at the show!!

Best Regards,
Greg

Re: [meteorite-list] Cameleopardites?

2014-05-24 Thread Greg Hupé via Meteorite-list

Hi Tracy and All,

I attempted to see in the best crystal clear skies anywhere, mid-Florida
swamp... and other than every single star, I saw Zip... But I did chase an
interloping armadillo around my back yard with a headlamp on.. See Facebook
for details... Lol

Great holiday weekend to all!!

Best Regards,
Greg

Has anyone seen any of this elusive meteor shower? Out in HI, after an
intermittent hour of observing, we saw 3 planes and a half dozen meteors,
about what one might expect from any other night. Maybe someone else is
having more luck; I think we may try setting the alarm clock for 2 a.m. and
see if it picks up any.

Best!

Interesting... To me it came back fine, but last shared message totally
messed up the name... Lets see when the Met List version ships to us.

Thanks again, Art!!
