[meteorite-list] sad news from Twink Monrad
I have some sad news to report. Steve Smith of Virginia passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer. He and Vickie were enthusiastic members of the meteorite world and were loyal and regular visitors to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Many of us who became friends of theirs will remember their humor, kindness and all around goodness. Let me add my condolences. As Gary said, Bill also took care of a couple of Jim Kriegh's and my infamous nice sized Nantans. He took them home one year and returned them to the old Innsuites with them the following year and did a wonderful job. All he would accept was a bag of my chocolate meteorite truffles. I feel fortunate that I spoke with John/Tracie a couple of weeks ago and left a message for Bill on Sunday. I like to think he heard my message just saying that I was thinking of him and hoped to see him in Tucson. Norm, I am sorry to hear about Hal. I usually report when I see things happening in Tucson regarding the plans for the Gem Show. I noticed this past week that the 22nd Street tent is going up, such a huge venue! I have not driven by Kino Sports Park, but I will bet that workers are busy with that also.
