[meteorite-list] Bonham's Auction Result - AD
The bottom line is the buyer had to pay over $1600- a gram. I think I am going to suspend sales of ALL planetary meteorites on my website between Dec 25th and Jan 1st pending any potential breaking news. So get it while you can guys. I am ready to make deals prior to the holidays. Jim Strope http://www.catchafallingstar.com/ and 60% of $19,520 or $11,700 going to the consignor. [meteorite-list] Bonham's auction
Hello Folks, Here is an interesting one - an NWA meteorite from the Mohave Desert! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/picturesoftheday/7690889/Pi ctures-of-the-day-7-May-2010.html?image=17 A visit to Bonham's website confirmed that the name should read NWA 4857. Even then I am a little confused - the stone being auction is described as whole and fusion crusted, with a mass of 3.64g, but the MetSoc database describes NWA 4857 as a single stone of 24g. Something doesn't add up. Re: [meteorite-list] Bonham's auction
Hi Kieron, All, Looks to me like one of the Martian individuals going around that can be purchased at a much lower price because it has not been put through its paces and properly classified and paired with that number or all the other numbers I have seen. The presentation looks really crude too...badly photoshopped label and knifed hole. I wonder what provenance has been checked buy the auctioneers? Re: [meteorite-list] Bonham's auction
They've got a couple of other 'meteorites' available... the one from the POD is out of the display box... the Zagami doesn't look like the other slices I could find pictures of online... Of course it doesn't help that there is no scale indicated There's also a slice of LA 002... The only one that looks authentic to my very untrained eyes is the Campo... http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r?screen=MySearchResultssaction=searchsFreeText=Mars%20Meteorite There is a contact name/number listed on those pages... Clear Skies!
