I woke up at about 3:00 and headed into the kitchen. I have a bay window in that room that faces east (with a heater vent right below it!). So I sat on the floor for about a 1/2 hour to watch the show. Even though I could not see the whole sky I had quite a show. Nice as it was I will never forget that show we had a few years back.. Guess it's some kind of inversion "OR" something. (Not "OF" Sorry for the typo). It is an inversion. But, when we usually get these it gets down to sub-zero temps. Low 20s F here, south suburbs of Chicago, but very clear. Major light pollution but the pollution only filters out all the weak magnitudes. Saw one really nice fireball before I retreated from the bitterly cold ~55 degrees! ;-) Seriously, it's too bad these things don't generate meteorites (or can they rarely produce?). Hello Everyone, Missed the meteor shower cause I fell asleep before my daughter as I was putting her to bed but I just came in from observing comet C/2004 Q2 Machholz. It is visible in binoculars and looks really nice in my 10 inch Dob. It is very easy to find as it is near Orion. Continue a line from the Orion nebula through Rigel and there it is.
