Don't let the turkeys keep you from flying like an eagle. Everyone knows I am opposed to over doing ads on the list, but yours was a truly exceptional piece! Those that objected, as you pointed out, are usually themselves significant abusers of our privileges. When certain individuals on this list are expelled or calmed down to the point that I can respect their opinions then I might rejoin. But until then I think I am going to lurk for a couple of days then leave and also remove my IMCA registration. I was hoping I would never have to write this email, but some of you have really crushed my passion for space rocks and my thirst for knowledge. Anyone who opens an email from Matteo/Muro/ for brains should be prepared for what is inevitably contained therein. Hey Dave Please Dave do not leave. Just trig your email browser to delete all emails from M$tteo. or with M$atteo. or M_uro name in it. You will not miss much, really ! Easy and works fine. Can any one tell we what are this guy positive contributions ? Yes sometimes he pinpoints a meteorwrong on which one is bidding. He should consider himself as the salvor of the community. I told you he will be tired before you and he will. He is not the moderator of any list, so far, and I bet any of my achondrites against any of your OC's that no wise people will anytime subscribe one of his lists and stay for more than a week! This list is not the place to solve personnal problems, perhaps Art should add this on the list behaviours ;-) . Dave, stay for god sake. Please stay for god sake. The meteorite community needs people like you. Meteorites are good fun. and many people are fun also. Re: [meteorite-list] Maybe NOT time to move on ...
I'm still fairly new here, although my IMCA membership is coming through shortly, and I just wanted to make an observation on the debates (fistfights) that I've seen so far on the Meteorite list... This is lightweight. Compared to some of the other lists to which I have subscribed, the Metlist is decidedly tame---unlike the various tech-lists out there, wherein cruelty and abuse are a way of life, and death threats are commonplace. Who would have ever thought that people could come to blows over circuit boards, ribbon connectors and overclocking kits? I don't pretend to fully understand the passion or the politics, but I accept the fact that humans are an aggressive species, and they actually enjoy snarling and snapping at one another on a regular basis. And we'll always be that way, hopefully---it's our aggression that makes us the most adaptable and intelligent species in the history of this planet. Anyway, I'm really more impressed with the patience, cooperation and good-natured ribbing that I've seen exhibited on the Metlist than I am with the occasional tiffs and snide remarks. Frankly, I don't think there's enough heat in here to drive anyone out of the kitchen---but there will always be a handful of thin-skinned whiners to bemoan the slightest failings of any given forum. I'm not one of them, and I'll try to keep my malcontent interjections to a minimum. }=] Charles Miller In a message dated 10/4/2004 2:15:11 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: These are the words of a list member who tried his best to make me come back to the List after half a year's abstinence (not quite because I was watching the archives regularly), and they made and still make sense - an excerpt from this mail: ... because the less good people there are the less interesting topics become in general.
